Welcome, from Joe

Welcome to the April edition of Healthy Futures.
In the early hours of Good Friday, something exciting happened across our hospitals and community services – we launched our new electronic patient record, Epic. While many of you might have been sleeping, thousands of my colleagues witnessed three years of hard work and planning come to life. Epic brings together important health information about your care, notes and test results in one place, making it easier for the people who are caring for you to make fast and safe decisions about what you need.
It’s no understatement when I say Epic will change the way we provide care. We’re already seeing the benefits on our wards and services, and our colleagues have picked up using the new technology incredibly well. I want to publicly thank them for their hard work to make sure Epic was launched without a hitch. I also want to thank you all for your continued support and patience with our people during the past few weeks in case you have had to wait a little longer than usual while we adjust to this new way of working.
There are more details about Epic and the MY CARE app, which contains details of your health appointments and test results, in this edition, plus lots more about some of our other exciting innovations and work to support you and your loved ones.
You may also have seen coverage recently in the news and on social media about our voluntary redundancy scheme and our public governors. We know these topics matter to people, so on pages 6 and 7 we’ve shared our position and set out the context behind the headlines.
Yours
Joe
