UNICEF Baby Friendly reaccreditation for maternity services

We’re delighted that our maternity services have been reaccredited at Level 3 of UNICEF’s Baby Friendly Initiative.
The Baby Friendly standards focus on how well services support infant feeding, early relationships and parents’ confidence during pregnancy and the early days of life. The assessment is based largely on what parents experience in practice, alongside observations of care.
This reaccreditation reflects the commitment and care shown by colleagues supporting parents and babies every day, and the team is now working towards the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award, which focuses on sustaining these standards for families over the long term.
Getting our sites summer ready
Our amazing Grounds and Garden Team has been working hard to get our sites ready for summer.
The team has spent the past few weeks rotavating all the wildflower patches, ready for seed planting to start soon, as well as tidying and sweeping away winter leaves, cutting back old branches, and making the walkways safe and clear.
They’ve also transformed an area at Torbay Hospital with a mix of birch trees, Tom Thumb shrubs, mahonia, lavender and holly, which are already bringing some much‑needed colour to the space. We can’t wait to see the area in full bloom.
