You can share your views about why you visit and value Berry Head and its future management to create a new management plan for the area.
Torbay Council and SWISCo are working on a new plan which will guide the future management Berry Head National Nature Reserve (NNR) and the Berry Head to Sharkham Point component of the South Hams Special Area of Conservation.
The area, which lies within the South Devon National Landscape, is of ecological, historical and community importance due to its habitats of European significance, wildlife colonies, Napoleonic Forts, geological interest, and recreational opportunities. The importance of the site is reflected in multiple special designations, but is also subject to the impact of increased recreational use, climate change, and issues such as nutrient enrichment, vegetation encroachment.
The new plan will address the key priorities for the site, and help to co-ordinate action to restore, maintain and enhance key features to ensure the area can be enjoyed now and in the future.

Paignton Changemakers asked to come forward to steer £20 million fund
People living or working in parts of Paignton are being asked to help guide a fund that will shape their future.
Community leaders in the areas formerly known as Blagdon and Blatchcombe, including Kings Ash, Collaton St Mary and the western edge of Paignton, are being invited to shape how a multi-million-pound fund could improve their neighbourhoods.
The area, which covers around 7,000 people, is part of Phase Two of the Government’s Pride in Place programme. The funding will be delivered in tranches during the next 10 years, and an initial £150,000 has already been released to help kick-start early activity, support listening and engagement this summer.
The next stage is the formation of a Paignton Place Leadership Board, half of which must be made up of people who live or work in the area. Once formed, the board will create a 10-year vision and business plan to spend the first £4 million of Pride in Place funding.
Don’t miss Lucy’s exhibition at the HeArTs Gallery
There’s still time to see Lucy Turner’s exhibition at our HeArTs Gallery, before it ends on 17 May.
British designer Lucy uses the traditional art of marquetry, a form of decorative art where she places pieces of coloured Formica laminate to a surface to form intricate patterns, pictures, or designs onto panels and objects to create vibrant furniture and interiors.
The HeArTs Gallery is on level 4 at Torbay Hospital, behind the main reception desk – go check it out if you’re onsite. For more details about her exhibition and work visit Designer Lucy Turner’s work hits the marq at a new exhibition at Torbay Hospital.
