Welcome, from Joe

Joe Teape, Chief Executive

Hello, everyone and welcome to our November edition of Healthy Futures.

As we near the end of another year, we’re taking a moment to look back and celebrate 40 years of our Women’s Health Unit at Torbay Hospital.

During the past four decades, thousands of babies have been born and cared for here, and we’re really privileged that some have gone on to join us as colleagues. As well as bringing life into the world, our teams who work in the unit also provide a range of healthcare and support to women and during the coming months we’ll be celebrating everything they all do. In this month’s edition of Healthy Futures we’re focusing on our maternity service and I want to thank everyone who got in touch during the summer to share their stories with us, which we’re collating into a book to say thank you to our colleagues both past and present.

I’m also proud that on Wednesday (26) our clinical education and recruitment team won the Nursing Times’ Workforce Team of the Year award for our partnership with The Open University to train our future nurses. We’re now looking for our next cohort of nursing students to study for a degree while completing all clinical placements in our services – there’s more details in this edition.

Whether you’re celebrating a significant milestone like the ones we’re sharing today, or you’re considering taking your first steps into a fulfilling career with the NHS, thank you for your continued support of our NHS, and my fantastic colleagues who work so hard for you and your loved ones.

Take care
Joe.
