Have your say and join our Council of Governors
Join us at our final virtual session to learn how you could represent your community by joining our Council of Governors.
Our 33 elected governors make a huge difference in making sure the views of our communities are represented and helping us to deliver our plans and we’re looking for governors in all of our constituency areas of Torbay; Teignbridge, and the rest of the South West peninsula.

We’re looking for a diverse range of candidates who are enthusiastic, interested in health and social care and are willing to represent the views of their communities in South Devon and Torbay area and the wider South West peninsula.
You can put yourself forward by visiting the dedicated Elections Portal or visit our website for more information. Nominations close at close at 5pm on Tuesday 09 December 2025. A magic carpet lands in our children’s emergency department
We know that waiting in our Emergency Department can be overwhelming, particularly if you’re a child, or a parent. Our Emergency Department team has worked hard during the past three years to make the area as calm and comfortable as possible to make sure everyone has a good experience while they wait.

And now children who arrive at our Emergency Department will be able to relax, play and feel more at ease while they wait, thanks to the generosity of Torbay Hospital’s League of Friends.

We’re grateful to the League of Friends for paying for the magic carpet – an interactive, sensory projection system which projects engaging games, music, and activities onto the floor to help children, young people and their families to relax, play, and feel more at ease in what can be an unfamiliar and stressful environment sometimes.
We’ll be sharing more details about the magic carpet in a future edition of Healthy Futures .
