Welcome to the March edition of Healthy Futures. There’s a lot happening across Torbay and South Devon this month.
By the time you read this, we’ll be days away from going live with our new electronic patient record, Epic. It brings information into one place so the people caring for you can see what they need, when they need it. You’ll also be able to view appointments, notes and test results through MY CARE patient portal, which launches at the same time. You can read more on page 3.
This month also includes an important meeting of our Board. Later this week, they will consider a paper on the future of adult social care in Torbay. You can find out more about this and how to join the meeting in public on page 3.
Our colleagues in research and development continue to make significant progress. We’re one of the highest recruiters into clinical trials in the country, and often the first or only site in the South West to take part — including work on a ground breaking prostate cancer drug and personalised cancer vaccine research. Our neurology team is also exploring how artificial intelligence could support people with Multiple Sclerosis. You can read more on page 6.
