Sponsors announced for our annual celebration event
Our people do amazing things every day to deliver safe and compassionate care to the people and communities we serve.
We celebrate and recognise their achievements through our internal awards scheme, called the Our People Awards, and every May we invite everyone who has received an award during the 12 months to a celebration event. We also invite the finalists of annual awards – our people’s choice team and individual awards, our, Charity Champion award, our People Partner award and, new for this year, our Volunteer of the Year award -and announce the winners on the night.
Our awards event is funded entirely by sponsorship through our Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity and the incredible generosity of our corporate sponsors. We would like to thank Nevada Construction, Bailey Partnership, Stride Treglown Architecture and MW Benney Ltd, Hulley and Kirkwood and Services Design Solution, Arque Ltd, Multiverse and Peninsula Project Consulting for sponsoring this year’s celebration.
Our Chief Executive, Joe, said: “We are so grateful to all our sponsors for generously sponsoring Our People Awards 2026 and publicly supporting our people.
“The event means so much to our people and we are delighted to be able to provide another fantastic evening for them to enjoy and celebrate their amazing work, which we couldn’t host without the donations of our sponsors. Thank you so much.”

Join us at our Medicine for Members event to learn about the power of involving people in decisions about their care
The importance of involving people in decisions about their care will be discussed at a free event at Torbay Hospital next month.

Our Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Raju Ramesh is an advocate of shared decision making, which involves clinicians and patients working together to make important decisions about healthcare, balanced against the patient’s personal goals and preferences.
On Tuesday 28 April Mr Ramesh will host our next Members event, sharing his experience of embedding patient choice at the heart of how he provides care in a career which has spanned nearly 40 years.
Mr Ramesh says: “Actively involving people in decisions about their care ensures they become partners in their treatment, rather than passive recipients. This approach asks patients, “What matters to you” rather than “What is the matter with you?”
“Shared decision making empowers people and increases engagement with their care, and evidence shows that when people participate in discussions about treatment options and care preferences, they are more likely to stick with the agreed plan and be less likely to regret decisions.”
There will also be an opportunity to ask Raju questions about shared decision making, although he cannot answer queries about individuals and their care.
The event takes place from 5pm to 6pm in TREC, Torbay Hospital and will also be live-streamed on MS Teams. Our medicines for members events are public health talks led by our clinicians in their own time, focusing on a topic that matters to them and to the communities we serve, offering our members a chance to learn more about a health related topic.
It’s free to attend, but please email our Foundation Trust Office to confirm your attendance if you are planning to join in person.
