Welcome, from Joe

We’re beginning the new year with a real sense of excitement and optimism. We’re now less than two months until we launch our new electronic patient record, Epic, which will transform how we deliver health and care across Torbay and South Devon by giving everyone who’s involved with your care updated information about your health and treatment to help them make quick and informed decisions about what’s best for you. Later this year we’ll be launching MYCARE which will give you greater control of your healthcare by letting you see your test results, upcoming appointments, medication and much more. We’ll be sharing more details about MYCARE in the coming months.
Our teams work so hard every day to improve the care we provide in our hospitals and in the communities. It’s making a real difference to people’s lives and thanks to their dedication, we’re now the 13th best performing trust in England for our 18 week referral to treatment times. Our achievements were recognised at a national NHS conference before Christmas – I couldn’t be more proud and you can learn more on page 4.
We’re excited to see progress on the £14.2million redevelopment of our Emergency Department at Torbay Hospital which is going to transform how we deliver care, will help reduce waiting times and create a better working environment for our teams.
I also want to thank our hospitals league of friends for their continued support, including generous donations from Newton Abbot Hospital League of Friends to purchase new gym equipment to help people who are recovering from a stroke or brain injury to get stronger. Our Torbay Hospital League of Friends also generously funded new grippable devices for patients who need hand therapy. We’re so grateful for the support of all our league of friends, and you can read more about these two donations in this edition.
Thanks so much for your continued support during the winter, we are really grateful for all the messages of support we receive.
Best wishes
Joe.
