Time to discover diagnostics

Students are being encouraged to learn more about an exciting career in diagnostics.
The Peninsula Imaging and Pathology Networks, with Healthcare Sciences, are running its popular diagnostic careers event for students aged 14 and older, and anyone else who’s interested in a career in healthcare.
The event will take place at the Horizon Centre, Torbay Hospital on Saturday 22 November 2025, 9am to midday or 1pm to 4pm and will showcase the incredible professions that make up radiography, pathology, and healthcare sciences, and the career opportunities available in the South West.
There will be a welcome seminar, exhibition stands, a chance to chat with professionals and learn more about how to kick start your career.
It’s free to attend but tickets must be booked for each person attending, for either the morning or afternoon session. Please email stacey.woodruff@nhs.net if you have any questions.
Update on Teignmouth Hospital
While the long-planned new-build Health and Wellbeing Centre was deemed no longer viable last year due to rising costs, our commitment to meeting local health and wellbeing needs remains unchanged.
We continue to review options for the Teignmouth Hospital site, including the potential relocation of services to Dawlish Community Hospital and exploring the feasibility of local solutions for services heavily used by the Teignmouth community.
We have now given notice on the leases at Teignmouth Hospital to ensure future options aren’t restricted and we are managing fire safety risks and maintenance issues carefully. This has included relocating our Chronic Pain Team, which provides a service across Torbay and South Devon, to Ashburton Health and Wellbeing Centre in July.
No decision has been made about the hospital’s future and we will continue to engage with our partners, including Volunteering in Health, local primary care and social care services and key stakeholders such as our Teignmouth community stakeholder group before any proposals are finalised.
