Cervical Screening Awareness Week

This Cervical Screening Awareness Week, we’re highlighting a powerful way to prevent cervical cancer: the HPV vaccine.
HPV (human papillomavirus) causes most cervical cancer cases , but the vaccine can stop it before it starts. In the South West, cervical cancer rates are higher than the national average, but we can change that.
The NHS in the South West is working to reach 90% HPV vaccine coverage for boys and girls by 2023.
So, how can you make a difference?
If you’re a parent, check that your child is up to date with their HPV vaccination.
If you’re a young person, make sure you’ve had your vaccine and if you missed a dose, catch-up appointments are available – please contact your GP.
Together, we can stop cervical cancer before it starts!
Meet Harry!
Harry is currently on Aspire which is a supported internship programme delivered in partnership between ourselves and South Devon College.

Harry has made a good start working as a Chef’s Assistant in Torbay Hospital. He is developing his confidence and has begun to demonstrate this by using his initiative, offering to undertake tasks when he sees that they need to be done.
Harry commented “I’ve enjoyed building new skills in the kitchen, particularly learning to use a knife to prepare salads. It has given me confidence to get for starting on the bank.”
