Dr Nangi Lo scoops top national cancer vaccine award
Congratulations to Dr Nangi Lo, our Consultant Medical Oncologist, who won the Rising Star in Cancer Vaccine Research award at the Great UK Cancer Vaccine Summit Awards.
Dr Lo was nominated for her work in bringing personalised cancer vaccine research to Torbay, the only small hospital in the country to offer this research.

She said: “Torbay Hospital is the only small centre in the country to offer personalised cancer vaccine trials and we were selected to be the hub for this research for patients across the whole South West peninsula. I am delighted that the work of the oncology research team in ensuring equity of access to clinical research and novel treatments for all has been recognised nationally.”

We’re proud of our partnership with South Devon College, Plymouth and Exeter Universities and the Open University which are all helping us to grow our future workforce and creating a pipeline for students to develop careers with our organisation and the wider NHS.
And even though school’s out for summer, it’s not too late to be thinking about new adventures from September by signing up to Springpod, our virtual work experience platform The next programme begins on 28 July and gives students up to 10 hours of free access to webinars, quizzes and videos with people working in our services, talking about what it’s like to work here and what qualifications or experience you might need for their role.
