Children and Family Health Devon nurse awarded prestigious Queen’s Nurse title
Congratulations to Emily Selley, Clinical Team Manager in our Community Children’s Nursing team, who has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Emily is now the fifth Queen’s Nurse in Children and Family Health Devon’s (CFHD) community nursing team, which is a testament to the team’s exceptional standards of care, and one of 12 across CFHD.
Emily, who has worked in the NHS for 27 years, 10 of those with CFHD’s community nursing team, said: “I am so thrilled to have been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title. It is an honour to be recognised for my commitment to patient care and nursing practice. I was particularly touched by two supportive statements from families I have worked with during my time in CFHD and feel privileged to have provided such meaningful care.”
Chief Nurse, Nicola McMinn said: “I want to congratulate Emily on achieving the title of Queen’s Nurse and to recognise the incredible dedication shown by all our nurses. Emily’s achievement is a shining example of the skill, compassion, and professionalism that runs through our children’s services. Every day, our nurses go above and beyond to make a real difference for children, young people and their families and I am immensely proud to work alongside such an exceptional team.”
The Queen’s Nurse title is awarded to nurses, health visitors, and midwives who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to patient care and nursing practice in the community. Applicants must have at least five years’ experience in community, primary, or social care.
Becoming a Queen’s Nurse connects recipients with a supportive national network, provides access to a free developmental programme and bursaries, offers opportunities for leadership and learning, and formally recognises their dedication to improving patient care.
Our chefs turn up the head at NHS Chef regional heats 2025

Huge congratulations to our chefs based at Bayview Restaurant in Torbay Hospital who whipped up a storm at the NHS Chef regional heats earlier this month.
Our brilliant chefs were just pipped at the post to go into the next round, but it is such an amazing achievement to have reached the regional heats.

Their menu was a red lentil sisig (a Filipino dish), Brixham mackerel with sweet potato, kale and a turmeric and coconut sauce finished off with a poached pear with a Devon flag, with a candied orange peel, clotted cream and a fruit and ‘Cornish’ red wine reduction.
The food tasted and looked amazing!
The team is always trying out new and tasty food so please do pop in to Bayview the next time you’re in Torbay Hospital to sample some of their dishes.
